To avoid gene naming conflicts, please use this form to register a gene name (currently only for protein-coding genes) with the TriTryp Gene Naming Committee (GNC) prior to publication in a scientific journal. This gene name should be unique and descriptive of the product (see here for guidelines). Wherever possible, could researchers also please provide an explanation of the choosen name. "Common" gene names (e.g. T. brucei VSG) and names based on the location of a gene (e.g. T. brucei ESAG4) are not unique and thus are considered aliases, which can also be reserved. Where possible, the systematic gene name assigned by the sequencing centres [consisting of the species name, the strain, the chromosome number and the gene numbers (e.g.(LmjF15.0010)] should also be submitted.
Please supply any additional information (e.g. experimental characterisation) in the message section. If you have resequenced a particular region and have additional information (e.g. confirmed 3'UTR, 5'UTR), please also include this information. Additional information can also be submitted directly to the curators from the individual database gene pages.
For more information on reserving gene names, please check the gene registry guidelines.
